Let´s start the weekend with Nina´s own design. This is her birch from the garden that instead of ending up as fire-wood, turned into a jewelry-ladder. Anyone who´s ever been a scout recognizes the knots and can see that this is an easy-make. Practical, natural and beautiful.
Nina´s doilies made into table-runner. Looks good, doesn´t it?!
I experimented a bit with mine, throwing them in the washer with some turquoise dye. however they turned out way too light, almost baby-blue, so I´ll dye them again with a darker dye.
Some of Nina´s old necklaces and charms given to her for her Christening, her confirmation and birthdays, were just fading away in her jewelry-box. So she put them all together, joined with two bracelets, and she´s got a new statement piece of jewelry, loaded with memories and reminders of people who love her.
Here is my own bracelet. Part of it is made from older charms and pendants, others I´ve made from some of all my beads. There is an Egyptian beatle in here, a fairy I got as a trade at Artfest, turquoises I bought at a market in Beijing, an old earring from the 80s, freshwater pearls, all on a mother-of-pearl bracelet I got from my Dad when he got back from Mexico, some time during the 70s.
A couple of my thrifted treasures. I haven´t decided if I want to use the old key for the cover of a book or in a necklace yet. I guess we´ll just see what comes first. I don´t know what the brass-things are, but am sure they can be used for the same purposes, either a book-cover or in jewelry.
