Art&Soul: Machine embroidered birds

First day at Art&Soul, and my first workshop:

See?! Tropical birds! This is Clark wishing you welcome into the class!

Meet my three wonderful students: Ruth, Jo Beth and Angela. Here we are looking at birds, deciding which one to start working with.

This is Jo Beth´s choice. Step one done: getting the backing fabric in place.

And step two, all the free-style machine embroidery. Her little parrot isn´t finished yet, but you can see how much she´s done in these few hours. The bird is filled with tiny stitches!

How cute are these two love-birds!?!

Angela with her BabyLoc. 🙂 Check out her blog, and she´s got some really cool treasures in her Etsy-shop.

What a difference! She´s not finished either, but you can see how great she´s coming along in her 3D-effect on the chest of the left bird.

And finally you have Ruth.

Wonderful Ruth who took me to Fabric depot after class. It´s only the largest fabric shop in the west. Oh-yes! I can absolutely do with that! Giant supermarket-size fabric-store! It didn´t hurt that everything was 30% off, either… Bring it on!

Anyway, here is Ruth´s tropical tucan! Sorry to say, I don´t have an after-photo of her bird.

And my three students at the end of the class. I am so proud of them! They did a great job, and made their own personal variations of the birds, so I learned something new too 🙂
