(Mr. SoulMan wasmy demo-guy in class and is now part of the silent auction to support children´s creative charity.)
My next workshop at Art& Soul is the textile portraits. This is a two-day class, and I have four wonderful students. Jo Beth you met yesterday. She´s back today, working on a beautiful native American.
This is from the first part of the workshop, where we paint our own fabric, using plain cotton and fabric paint.
Then there´s Susan, who is only joining for one day, as she is teaching herself tomorrow.
Step two is working with applique. Susan´s working on none other than Frida Kahlo. This is in a very early stage, but can you recognize Frida?
The ever charming Tammy!
Also at an early stage, but can see how the smile is the same as with the maker 😉 A self-portrait in progress!
And finally Paula from Florida. She is about to start on her daughter´s portrait.
At th end of the second day, this is what JoBeth´s Indian looks like:
She´s still got a little work to do on the hair an his clothing, but isn´t his face just awesome?!! The subtle colors and shading… Lovely!
Equally lovely, but in a totally different way is Tammy´s self-portrait. Tammy is fun and whimisical, and so is her use of color: festive just like her.
