Heh, yes that is a wonderful statement. Ahh a double edged sword – what a great metaphor – but two forked adds a new image to our language.

“Two-forked” is the direct Norwegian translation. I had heard of a double edged sword, I just forgot. But hey, creative language doesn´t hurt! 🙂
I love “two-forked,” the image is so much more dangerous sounding! It would be interesting to compare the weapons that gave rise to the sayings, because I believe they are entirely different. Although I think actual two-forked swords were used in other places, they evidently didn’t make it into the english lexicon!
Well, the more I´ve been thinking about it, the more unsure I am about the word. But it does sound a bit medieval, doesn´t it?
ha! I’ve never heard of a two forked sword…double edge sword yes…but ha..I’ll have to start using that in my vocab and see who gets it! xo
Well, I was being a bit creative in my language here, not remembering the right word, and just freely translating (not even correctly) a norwegia word. But hey! If it puts a colorful image in the receiver´s head, maybe it´s not so bad.
