Well, the title says something about the deadline, doesn´t it… 🙂
This is a commissioned work for a school in a neighboring community. These banners are used every 17th of May, which is Norway´s National day.
I made the design a while ago, and now it´s all about getting the job done!
The colors of the coast: the rain, the sky, the ocean, the forrest and the rock…
The basic shape of the banner is cut in extra thick, natural silk satin. The kind they make princess´wedding-dresses from…
Adding the skyline of Førde, based on photos taken last spring.
I asked an old acquaintance (and a new one. below) if he could take me on a boat-trip along the shores, to take reference-photos. (above)
So I painted a bit…
… and appliqued a bit…
… and painted some more…
And even though I´m only half-finished, it´s starting to look like the place.
How clever and how beautiful!
