Here is another version of being caged. These big walls of shame that keep people out.
It started with the great wall of China, keeping the Mongolian warriors away. We´ve all heard of the Berlin wall that separated East and West-Berlin, and at the same time separated families for decades. Last October was the 20th anniversary for bringing that wall down. You still have other walls standing strong though: the one between Israel and Gaza, and the one between The Us and Mexico.
I am sure there are pros and cons, but it is rather sad that some nations find it necessary to close their borders so drastically.
This is a paper/paint-collage from my journal.

This is a very moving piece….marvelous!
Well I’m off to renew my passport so I can put it in my passport holder. Is that you on the back? – very photogenic 🙂
On walls : in Oz we we had the white australia policy for a long time. It was good because we tried to keep Australia for the english and their convicts. And maintained the status quo.
But now we have let the wall down we have all sorts of restauraunts 🙂 I don’t know if we let Norwegians in though 😉
But seriously we need walls so rich people can keep the poor people out (or in)
heh
Just kidding.
I like how you approach serious social issues in your work. It shows you are a caring kind and intelligent person.
This is such a visually striking piece. Lovely!
Hello Janne 🙂
Wow! I loved your first ‘caged’ piece, and now I’m loving this even more! You’ve approach the subject with issues that are ‘real and present’ which often miss our attentions. Wonderful work!
And thanks for coming by my blog, it was nice seeing you there! 🙂
