February´s picture is of an old, but still useable boat. A former ferry, I think, now used more for freight. You don´t really see a lot of purple boats around here, and it was the color that immediately spoke to me. When the boat itself was bumpy and rusty from a long-lived life at sea, I had to make a picture!
The title is “I gamble dagar heitte ferjene HSD” (In the old days the ferries were called HSD). HSD (Hardanger Sunnhordlandske Dampskipselskap) is the name of the ferry company that owned all the ferries and busses in the region when my Grandmother and I was young… Nowadays, money talks, and every other year there is a new company who won the bidding round for the local transport. I have no idea what company runs the ferries today. I only know it´s a different one that runs the busses. And neither of them did so two years ago…
