DIY iron board makeover

Today´s 30-minute DIY make-over is for the ironing board.

As you can see, my ironing board was pretty well worn and has been used hard during costume-projects. Stained with remnants of glue and paint. Not a nice sight for sore eyes anymore that´s for sure. So I decided to do something about it!

I used linen, as that is the natural fiber that can stand the highest temperatures.

To add a personal touch I used one of my silk-screens to print a fern heart onto the fabric. Using fabric paint that needs heat-fixation, so the color won´t rub off on anything in the future.

First I placed the fabric where I wanted it to be, and pinned it down. Turning the board over, I stretched the fabric tight, so it won´t wrinkle when I use it.

Using a staple-gun and fastened it. Screwing the iron-holder back on, and Voilá!

A new, fresh iron-board! It only took 30 minutes including a long break to check Pinterest and have a chocolate-snack 🙂

And while you´re at it, use the remains of the fabric to make a little fabric bag. You can use it to store your bread, your pajamas on travels, your love-letters, or of course, use it as a romantic hide-away for your flamingos.

I had enough fabric for a dish-towel as well. Ready for Valentine´s day in a jiffy!
