oil, brushes and a big toe!

I´m still experimenting with the oil paints. I found some old art-books, and am now reading about the technique.

First I wanted to try a more abstract painting. I´ve wanted a big red painting for years, and thought it to be a good way to start experimenting. Here I added a orange-yellow part at the bottom and big pink rings in the red, to add interest.

Unfortunately it´s really difficult to get all the colors right on the blog. There is a myriad of nuances in the red part here, that is just invisible in this photo.

Isn´t it funny how you all of a sudden can see things more clearly when you see a photo of a picture you´re working with? I didn´t see until now that the poor girl does´t have a nose! She´s got a couple of other flaws too, I guess I´ll just declare her work-in-progress. 😉

The bouquet of silk-draped paint-brushes is growing. I figure if I make some every day, eventually I´ll get them all finished.

And this little guy is cute as ever. He´s been visiting us at the boathouse. All smiles, an itchy gum soothed by him chewing on his big toe!

It´s been more than a few years since I could do the same, I tell you!
