Yesterday I read a quote at the Papaya-blog:
“Being afraid of color is like being afraid of being happy”.
Spring is finally her! We´ve changed the spiky tires on the cars, the air is cold, but with the distinct smell of green growth, it´s sunny, we even cut the grass today. I´m still stuck inside working on my speech (the darn thing refuses to write itself), and by the evening I was so tired with words, I needed to paint! With lots of colors!!!
In my attic I found this old wooden box from my childhood, that once held a bottle of wine. I took it into possession to keep my letters in it. But I decided to replace my childhood letter into a cardboard-box, and give the little chest a new life.
I wanted colors! I NEEDED colors!
In my window was another treasure from my teens. The little tea-box. I have to admit I bought it because of the design of the box, I didn´t even like tea at the time…
Laying the ground colors, working with acrylics. Adding layers. Making some small stamps as I go along.
My little black wave is one of my favorites, and I´ve used it quote alot. All stamps are made from fun-foam.
By chance I was using a round sponge to add the paint to my stamps, and trying to remove excess paint, this little shape arrived. Art-by-accident! Yay! I think they look like lots of exotic fruits lying in a box, waiting to be eaten. This is on the back of the box, the side that probably won´t show, I just wanted to try it out anyway.
I do have some whole oranges on the other side though. I think the box will be called “For the love of oranges”. I want to print some text in the pink outline, but couln´t find my stamp-pad and alphabet tonight. Tomorrow then…
This is the bottom. I left one of the handles, so that I might hang things from it.
Inside I painted it turquoise, with shades in blue. And I´ve glued down a metal butterfly. just for the fun of it! I´m exactly sure what to use it for yet, but for now, some of my brushes are visiting
The black-and-white line around the edge is very american to me, if not by anyone else, then definitely inspired by the always wonderful Michelle. I am also very happy with the old measuring-tape I glued down in the front.
I haven´t done anything with the lid yet, but I could actually hinge it on, and make a little door. What do you think? Door or no door?

I just love this…makes me wanna grab something and paint it up! Love the blues and oranges together…my favs. Hope you’re well! xo
Door!!!
Fresh, funky and fabulous! I really love how you used the foam foam stamps …I have to try this myself.
door door. Hay that’s two doors. How about a door split into two that opens like an altar.
Gee, you never rest.
Good.
We are just starting winter soon.
yesterday the water temp was 21 degrees.
Today air is 15 degrees.
So its better to be in the surf than at work
cheers
PS nice box
Love this box! How do you come up with this stuff? I second Tyler, makes me want to grab something…
