mixing dye, mixing colors

Dye-mixing-day! There´s quite a bit of chemistry and math involved in textiles, more than you might think. Very interesting. When it´s all new, learning the recipes, the names of the ingredients, it´s slightly confusing. But once I´ve actually DONE it, it sticks in a completely different way, than just by hearing it.

I mixed a batch of turquoise dye, and after everyone had left I made another one, in brown. Once you´ve done it once, it´s not which-craft anymore 😉

I´ve been experimenting with different colors, but this is the combination that speaks to me:

Turquoise, warm brown and peachy orange. Tomorrow I´ll learn how to fixate the colors with steam. I hope the colors are still as vibrant as they were this evening.
