International Women´s day

March 8th is the International Women´s day. This day is celebrated in our neighbor-municipaly, with a demonstration-martch, an art-exhibition and an evening of talks and appeals. Very interesting! I am ashamed to say that at my ripe age, it´s the first time I´ve attended an event like this. (It was about time!)

But I am proud to say that Stord Art Group (Stord Kunstlag) asked me to be one of 5 artists contributing in their exhibition. My black lace bra made the poster, and I have to admit I actually think it fits quite well as a poster-piece in this special setting. :-)

Turid Vikene and Anneli Belsvik Aras (ceramic-artists), Rigmor Nygaard (collage/paint), Sanita Balode (acrylic), and then me with my textiles and photo, filled the hall with our art.

I only contributed with three pieces, as my artistic energy is tied up in the upcoming embroidery-exhibition. But let me show you the other two pieces:

A small freestyle machine embroidery on white linen called “My life without me” (25×25 cm), an afterthought on all the refugees fleeing their homes and leaving their lives behind. I tried to imagine what it would be, if I left my home, my life behind.

“What you see is what you get”, 60×90 cm

is actually both what you think and what you don´t think you can see. Yes, it is an immigrant, who come to Norway for work. But she´s from England, has red hair and freckles and is called Freya after the Nordic mythology-godess. She´s a friend of mine, and we were just goofing around wit a scarf. But when I looked at the picture later, she has a very interesting expression, that invites the imagination to play.
