Kjerstins lovebirds

Last night I finished Kjerstins wedding-dress. She came over from Oslo for the final fitting. And fitting is the word. The dress is actually sculpted on her, piece by piece. She must of tried it on a dozen times, while I each time added more pins to get everything in the right place. And slowly we got it all together. We were so caught up in the process, we forgot to take any pictures, except at the end. She was very patient, and I think she wrote most of her speech while waiting, so it wasn´t time waisted. It was a challenge to make this dress, I had no pattern to follow, and had to lay the path as I was walking it, so to speak.

The black lace part is partly hand-stitched to the white duppion silk under-gown, but the tulle-skirt is on it´s own. The last thing we did was add more tulle at the top of the dress, to make the edge between dress and skin softer.

Below is the finished dress, although you will have to come back in a while to see her in it. It looks much better on her, since it is sculpted on her body, and not on the doll. And of course the hair, shoes, jewelry and not to forget: the groom completes the picture! He also has a taylor-made suit, and  can´t wait to see him!

We both love the tulle-skirt. It makes a real frou-frou noise when she moves!
