This is an un-finished booklet I started to make at Artfest in Lynne Perella´s class. The plan is to keep adding details and color. Since Inspire me Thursdays theme this week is “Altered ancestors” I thought it would be a good opportunity to share this with you.
It is about my grand-uncle Andy, and his true adventures as part of His Royal Highness´ Mermaid Hunters Expedition, 1st Batallion.
Before WW2 he left Norway as a sailor, and nobody heard from him after the war broke out. Everyone assumed he was dead. It wasn´t until the early 1970s he returned with a beautiful American wife. The family was happy about his return, and never gave it much thought about why he had been gone so long, the main thing is he was back! It wasn´t until over a decade after his wife died (and 3 decades after his death), we found evidence that he had been on a secret mission for years! All this time we had thought he was an ordinary sailor, when in fact he was working for the King. And hence is the inspiration for this little book, honoring his memory, and heroic contribution in finding the truth about mermaids.

I don´t know if you can tell from the images, but he actually got a gold ring in his right earlobe, given to him for his bravery by the King himself.
wow, what an intriguing story! you have honored him well, these pieces are spectacular and full of intrigue just like his heroic tale. thanks for sharing with us at Inspire Me Thursday!
Wow… Det viste eg ikkje! Korfor viste eg ikkje dette om Andy?!? Så flott at du ærer ham.
No, we didn´t tell you, we were afraid you would take up synchronized swimming again…
This is a very beautiful book and what an interesting story! A wonderful tribute and very artfully made.
Well, hmm. Great stuff as always! Now am I believing this. Yes. History as written by the survivors. PS love the textures. And the blue mists of time.
