a day at the beach…

Sometimes summer just doesn´t live up to it´s expectations. Sad to say…

But the memory of summer cannot be destroyed! Therefore I have this tiny bottle of hope with me in my sewing-suitcase. Well, actually two bottles. The one on the left has sand from Lake Mitchigan (Hi Birgitte! and greetings to Maria!) and the one to right is shell-sand from the beach here on Bømlo.

This idea originated from Andrea at Artfest 2009.

My friend Silje sent me these lines today, and I think they fit surprisingly good for a standard Norwegian summer 😉

Life isn´t about waiting to see the storm through. It´s about learning to dance in the rain.

  1. Again, thanks for passing on wonderful ideas, a portable beach – brilliant! And I love the quote, I hope it’s ok if I use it in my next facebook update

  2. You call that sand?
Gee if you got that sand in your swimmers (right bottle) it would be interesting! My car is full of sand, I have a different kind of portable beach (and it stays in your ears as well )

But seriously – I love that quote.

    cheers from Oz

  3. Waving back at you! Were you in Michigan at some time to collect the sand? Email me your addy and I’ll send along a petoskey stone, though you will have to do the polishing, I have yet to polish any of mine.
