If-sneaky

I know, I´m getting ahead of myself here, all of a sudden in a Christmas-mood. It must be the advent-calenders I´m making 🙂 This definitely has an element of H.C. Andersen: “Girl with the sulfur-matches”-feel to it, or maybe it´s a little bit of Cinderella. What is it with me and fairy-tales lately?

  1. I love the retro look of this illo. Reminds me of my childhood… I used the term “sneak attack” in mine too, :p

  2. well, in Holland we have Sinterklaas first and than the Santa (Sinterklaas is much older!!) so for me I thought that this girl is waiting for Sinterklaas!!

  3. Hey, you must be a lot of fun in real life, 🙂 That’s a wonderful image, the sneak attack one especially.

A favored child has many names 🙂
The american Santa was invented in 1905 or thereabout by the Coca Cola company, and is therefore a totally commercial version of much older traditions, like your Sinterklaas or the Norwegian nisse, the Swedish tomte and so on.. Our Norwegian nisse never traveled through the chimney. He was small and lived in the barn and took care of the animals on the farm.

Thanks for the site, it looks like there´s a lot of interesting stuff there. And of course I´m fun in real life! Except when I´m stuck behind the Mac 😉
