Art and Soul blog-hop

As some of you already know, I´m going to be teaching at Art & Soul in Portland in October. And I´m looking forward to it big-time!

I´ll be having two workshops, both being creative with our sewing machines, and taking advantage of the freestyle embroidery function. In my workshop Machine embroidered birds, we turn small scraps of fabrics and yard upon yard of thread into tropical birds of paradise. These can in turn be used in pictures, collages, on clothing. Anything you want really.

My second workshop is a two-day-course, and there we will be making naturalistic portraits in textile. We´ll be working with fabric-paint, applique and machine embroidery, all rolled into one, and together we´ll have a gallery of fabric faces at the end of the course.

Stephanie Rubiano makes houses, lots of them. encaustic, collage, wood, even jewelry. So many variations and so much inspiration on her blog. Stephanie will hav 4 different workshops at Art&soul.

Elizabeth Kettle will teach 3 workshops, and she´s specialized in textile collages. Her way of transforming memories into fabric and stitch looks really great.

Ingrid Dijkers makes the coolest art-journals! If you ever wanted to get into art-journalling, and didn´t know how to get started, taking one of her 3 classes will get you kick-started.

Marcia Schultz is a very versatile artist, working with everything from big 3D tropical birds to small mosaic skull-pendants. At art& soul she´ll be teaching steam-punk and resins-classes. Not to forget the big birds and flowers.

If recycled book-binding or fuild acrylic painting tickles your fancy, have a look at Kari McKnight- Holbrook´s classes. Lots of fun ways to make use of all those scraps too good to throw away.

Karen O’Brien is an amazing painter and has got some crazy-cool collages. It´s almost too bad she´s having her one class on one of the days I´m teaching, because I´d love to take her class myself.

Jane Davies is another colorful lady. She´s teaching collage and paint, but with a more abstract approach than Karen. Loads of colors, loads of fun!

Last, but not least, let me introduce you to Glenny Moir. She is the inventor and organizer of Art & Soul. Four different art & Soul a year, different places in the US. What a true passion for art that takes! I am so grateful and have such respect for the few people who actually live out their passion this way, inviting others to join in and take part of the big creating-event. Oh, I can hardly wait to be a part of this Art-family!
