Frog skin book pendant

Yes, you read right.

Frog skin. Professionally processed, dried and dyed a pearly mint. It´s small, only about 8×10 cm (3×4 inches).

I wanted to use it for a miniature book, preferably so small I could use it as a pendant in a necklace.

Binding the duck-egg blue handmade paper.

The warts on the skin are actually a bit bumpy, so a little help from these little helpers is much appreciated, when gluing the skin down with not-too-much seam-allowance.

On the back I applied a small, turquoise metal ring, and added a sterling silver hook on it. The silver is naturally oxidized by age :-)

And here it is, the finished book. It´s about 4,8 x 4,8 cm. 10 pages.

Next evening of meditation and stress-release will be making the necklace to go with it.

  1. That. Is. Awesome.

It should be filled with fairy tales!

I love the idea that comes with certain materials. Alone, it’s just a book. But knowing it is made of frog skin? It seems magical.

  2. Thanks, Rubin!
I agree with you, it´s much more fun that it is actually a frog book. I hadn´t given it much thought, but of course it should be a book of fairy-tales. Of princesses and frogs 😉

  3. Jo takk. Det var eit greit skinn å jobbe i. Litt litte, så det var ikkje så mykje ein kunne lage av det. Men ei lita bok er jo alltid grei å ha for handa. Eller rundt nakken

  4. Må si jeg likte denne lille froskeboka di…den er rett og slett litt magisk syns jeg. Hvor i all verden fikk du tak i froskeskinn???
