I have a drawer filled with business cards from friends, and acquaintance. Especially after Artfest, I bring home a bundle of delightful cards, each with information about blogs and websites. It´s like a little treasure-chest all of it´s own. Except, lying in a drawer doesn´t do much good, does it?
So I gathered them all, and made a little booklet of them. Two actually. First one is super-easy to make. Just punch two holes in one end, and push a jointed ring through each hole. I used scrap-booking rings.
So in this little mini-book, there are loads of artists and costume- and set- and prop-designers. Of course many of their cards are really beautiful with their art on them, so in fact, this is like a miniature art-book. Cool, huh?! 🙂
In my second business-card-book, I have all my Artfest-business cards. I wanted to do a classic coptic binding for it, just to see if I remembered it (couldn´t find the how-to-explanation! arg!)
Well, it´s not perfect, but it looks pretty neat anyway. I used a jeans-thread. My book-binding waxed linen is so thick, and I needed something a bit thinner, so I thought I´d give it a go.
Yay! All done, and none of them will disappear on me.
Oh, I know, it really does seem like I don´t have a life, making little projects like this for myself, but I assure you, this can be combined both with watching a film on TV and talking to your family. Especially when I remembered the coptic binding 😉
What a great idea, Janne! I am constantly collecting artist business cards at art fairs and such. This will be a great way to keep them!
love this idea. i did it with my christmas cards from inspiration from michelle’s blog. never thought to do it with business cards…makes perfect sense- they’re spilling everywhere around the house!
Cool idea! I love it!
Love these, Janne! I’ve been meaning to do something similar with the giant stack of holiday, birthday and miscellaneous greeting cards that is collecting dust on the shelf. And it’s a good way to practice different binding styles, too. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Hope you’re having a great day! =)
