Christmas is a time of giving, and I really enjoy making the gifts myself. I thought I´d include you guys on my Christmas-gift-list this year, and every Sunday in advent, I´ll ask Mr. Random to pick out a name from the past weeks comments who will receive a little something.
This Sunday, I´d like to give one of you my handmade Christmas ornament. I make a new design every year, and this year it´s a little house, made in paper. It´s light-weight, but solid, so it´s not as fragile as it may seem. About 11 cm high.

Very cute house! I’d love to win.
And a Christmas memory, the first that comes to mind, is not a good one. Both my kids, my husband (at the time), and myself ALL got a stomach virus and not the 24 hour deal either. I was so sick, I didn’t get to finish shopping for my kids. We had no tree. The gifts I had purchased didn’t get wrapped. AND, the washing machine broke in the middle of all this doing icky laundry for sick little kids. It was memorable alright. I still remember pulling toys out of store bags and handing them to my kids and watching them just lay on the couch cuddling their new toys, too sick to play with them. After we all got well, I took my boys out to do their own Christmas shopping at after Christmas sales. Now that I am divorced, the boys and I started a new tradition of putting up our tree the first weekend after Thanksgiving (doing it today) so we’ll never be without a tree for Christmas again!!!!
I’ve started this comment a couple of times and had to stop to think some more — as Angie says, the first memories that come back to me aren’t very good ones! But now I’ve started the Christmas tradition of making beignets on Christmas morning, because my first grandchild was born in New Orleans, and we have always made chocolate fondue on New Year’s Eve. The memories of the little ones with their faces shiny from powdered sugar and chocolate are happy ones, and I look forward to making many more of them!

So cute! Is there still time to enter the fun? If yes..
My favorite christmas memory is that of last year. Mostly because it was the most ordinary christmay I ever had. That needs an explanation, I guess.
My family is not very big, so christmas time was always like everyday time, just with an unloved tree in the corner that silently lost its needles. The food was better, though, but not really “special”. My family doesn’t have the ability to create much of a festive atmosphere.
But last year my boyfriend took me with him to celebrate with his family and there they had everything a child wants for christmas (apart from the presents). Lots of neighbours and friends meeting and giving presents to each other, lots of sitting in the kitchen talking and eating cookies. My sister-in-law and me were in authority of the tree and for the first time in my life it felt like a really important task. The food was awesome (deer, red cabbage with apples and dumplings) and all in all, it felt just like I always imagined what christmas should feel like.
