Elephants! Elephants, elephants, elephants! As far as the eye can see!
I think I started this embroidery project 10-15 years ago, and guess what? I´m finally finished!
Fiftyninethousandtwohundredandfourtyseven stitches. Yeah, baby! That´s right. 59 247!
I lost a couple of colors along the way, the orange, the burgundy. Who knows where they are now… The tread is in raw silk, called Silk Tweed. The elephant-motif is inspired by an illustration I found in a book so many years ago, I forgot which one it is, sorry to say.
I´d been working on it on a on-and-off basis years ago, then left it with three rows almost done for a decade. I found it again late November, and pretty much every night in December, January and now February, I´ve been doing a bit. (The photo above is taken mid-December) Until it now finally is finished.
That is. Of course it´s not REALLY finished. I can´t leave it this way. I intended to make a big cushion-cover, but have changed my mind, and will make it into the cover of a little stool. Just have to make the stool first. Not this week.
Did I mention it feels good to finish?!? 😀
And now for something completely different: Does anybody have any good tips on must-sees and must-dos in Mexico?
Wow. I mean seriously, WOW. It’s beautiful, and such an incredible commitment of time! (BTW, the pennies are in the mail! 🙂 )
