I´ve made it a tradition to make a Welcome to the World! -book to each of my nieces, nephews and God-children.
This weekend two more are being baptized, and two more books need to be made.
I make the outside, and bind the book, but the whole family contributes to the inside content. Each family-member has their own page with their photo, and where they tell a little about themselves and their wishes & hopes and good advice to the new-born. The point is really to show the new world citizen how many people love him or her already! 🙂
So today I finished the outside of one of the books. The freestyle machine embroidery & applique is on hand-painted cotton fabric. The inside I added quilting fabric, to cheer things up a bit. I made the cover a while ago, so today was the binding-day. Tomorrow I´ll have to sew a cover for the next book.
The text says Come fly with me!
And here you can see the whole book, when it´s folded out.
Oops..I meant for my other comment to be posted on this post instead. 🙂 Kate
