raku arrow points

A few weeks ago I visited the ceramic department at HSH, bought some rake-clay, and made these arrows. Seven of them, all different. Now dried, and raw-fired. Next step now is to glaze and gas-fire them. This is by far the favorite part of making rake!

Which brings us up to date!

Today I´m back, this time to burn some arrows!

Here they are, all ready glazed in a copper-red glaze.

Right out of the saw-dust fire, with the soot still on.

And after most of the soot is washed off. Now to take them home for a thorough cleaning, and mounting them on plates, to hang on. You can see a bit of the metallic shine in the last picture. In real life t´s even more. I really, really like raku. It makes just about any shape or form beautiful! The glaze, with it´s metallic shine, is very forgiving of flaws.
