Add color, add life

One of my dear friends has been dreaming of a colorful, Indian inspired room for pretty much as long as I´ve known her, and finally her dream is coming true. I´ve promised to help her and today was our big painting day together.

First we got this brand new, white, shabby chic cabinet with glass doors. But Nina doesn´t want white. She´s tired of white. She wants color! Yellow on the inside, and emerald green on the outside.

Isn´t this just a killer-cool combination? (The two drawers at the bottom are somewhere else drying)

After I did the main painting, Nina continued with some gold details. The walls in her room are in a special interior paint mixed with chalk to make it super-matte and a bit washed-out. The top border she stamped on with a big fun-foam stamp I made some years ago. The soft colors of the walls combined with the strong colors of the cabinet will mix better together when the rest of the interior comes into place. Including bright pink sari silks for curtains  😉

We also visited a local charity-shop, and she found this 100-year old kitchen cupboard. It was already bright and shiny red, so she washed it, and we started to paint the inside for the drawers and cabinet in a turquoise blue. It´s a wonderful color-combination!

The red cupboard will be in another room, even though it would fit perfectly in the Indian room.

Working with friends like this, being creative and productive together, making a “dream room” is just such a lovely way to spend a rainy summers day. Hopefully I can post some pictures when it´s all done.

  1. I love brightly painted furniture! One of these day, I’ll have to have some, lol.
