Skandi Bergen is DOFs third ship with this name, and also the the third ship with this name I´ve made art for. Below you see only two pictures. It´s a long story, but the short version is that the owners sold the ship before the artwork came onboard. These two pieces were snuck onboard anyway by some of the people working on the ship. And once the ship has left the harbor, it´s a bit difficult to get a three meter long whale back ashore….!
The whale is really three meters long, the picture printed onto a hard pastil-board, and cut into shape. The text you can see on it is exerts from the Kyoto-agreement on environmental politics. Originally it was designed for a conference room, but it has been placed in a corridor near one of the common-areas.
The second picture was made for the sky-lounge. The captain wanted a panorama-view of Bergen-by-night, and since the room is also the cinema-room, it got the shape above. This picture is now in the conferenceroom.
Such a beautiful ship, I was onboard before it was finished, and so many empty walls. The ship is sold to China, and I am sure the new owners will fill it with beautiful art from Chinese artists. I hope so. It´s a nice thought to have my art in an international environment with artists from other nations. 🙂
Ha ha! Love your big Whale, it’s looks like a real size of whale ! Janne, Whale is my favorite animal!
These are beautiful — that whale is AMAZING!
