National treasures – the nature

Norway is a small country, for better and for worse. A densely populated, weird, long shape on the map. But it is a country filled with unexpected treasures, some of whom I´ve seen this last part of the summer. So let me share in a couple of posts, some of the national treasures, big and small, just as an inspiration. Let´s start with the big, and perhaps the obvious: nature.

Norway is the country of fjords. Of pure nature, steep mountains, deep fjords, naked rock-faces, a veeeery long coastline…

Stalheim near Voss. I´d never heard of the place, but the mountains here are stunning. So steep and tall, it looked even more extreme in real life than in this photo. The mountain pass between Voss and Sogn.

The Hardanger fjord is a classic. Bømlo, my little island is way out in the mouth of the fjord, when you can´t really see it´s a fjord anymore. But this is from the edge of the inner part, and it´s pretty stunning.
