Melting stuff is fun! So much fun. And metal But melting metal is especially fun! Last Friday, this is what we learned at school.
Using a homemade form, filling it with fine sand, mixed with a bit of oil, we pressed hard objects into the sand, leaving an imprint. Carefully carving a canal for the melted tin to run into.
Melting the tin with butane.
Pouring the liquid tin into the form.
It forms a little “button” on top, while we wait for t to cool down.
My finished pieces. Two tin twigs. After removing them from the form, I filed away sharp edges. Now I´m thinking maybe I should make earrings of them?
