A beautiful, little city with a strong celebration-tradition for the Holy week (the Easter-week)<\/p>\n<p>And I would\u00b4t be surprised if Taxco was Torbj\u00f8rn Egner\u00b4s inspiration for \u201cKardemommeby\u201d (the children\u00b4s book Cardemom city, which I will start working with the set-design on when I get home)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14235\" title=\"_MG_5323\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spindelmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/MG_5323.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"675\"><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 that Taxco is the city of white houses and white VW-taxis (must have been hundreds of them!)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14234\" title=\"_MG_5306\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spindelmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/MG_5306.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"260\"><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 that lots of Mexican families are blessed with their own angels <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/spindelmaker.bluesystems.no\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/simple-smile-150.png\" alt=\":-)\" class=\"wp-smiley\" style=\"height: 1em; max-height: 1em;\"\/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14236\" title=\"_MG_5351\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spindelmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/MG_5351.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"411\"><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 that lots of Mexican go on a pilgrimage in the Holy week, we must have passed several hundreds, some with big wooden crosses on their backs. In Taxco I came across this procession of \u201croman guards\u201d, all part of the celebration.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14238\" title=\"_MG_5360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spindelmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/MG_5360.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"284\"><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 that vendors are not prejudice\u2026 If you\u00b4re not into Jesus, you might be into fairies? (with or without dragons)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14239\" title=\"_MG_5373\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spindelmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/MG_5373.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"435\"><\/p>\n<p>But let\u00b4s move on to the silver. The silver is found in the mountains around Taxco, and it takes 3,5 tons of rock to get 1 kilo of pure silver. Pure river is too soft to make anything with, so it needs to be mixed with something stronger, now mainly zinc. 92,5% silver, 7,5% zinc. This is why it\u00b4s stamped 925. They claim it is the highest % river can be, but those of us who have worked with PMC, know better \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"_MG_5355\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spindelmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/MG_5355.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\"><\/p>\n<p>I\u00b4ve also learned<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 that every year there is a silver-smith contest where original pieces are prized.
