{"id":6616,"date":"2009-08-12T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-08-12T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spindelmaker.bluesystems.no\/2009\/08\/12\/stamped-and-gilded-leather\/"},"modified":"2009-08-12T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2009-08-12T00:00:00","slug":"stamped-and-gilded-leather","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spindelmaker.bluesystems.no\/?p=6616","title":{"rendered":"Stamped and gilded leather"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--single.php--><\/p>\n<p><!--loop-->\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t        <!--navigation--><\/p>\n<p>\t\t<!--post title--><\/p>\n<div class=\"postspace2\">\n\t<\/div>\n<p><!--content with more link--><\/p>\n<p>On a local excursion, I visited an old friend of mine, Olaug, who at 88 still makes the most beautiful stamped and gilded leather.&amp;nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Transferring the pattern:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2942\" title=\"lc3a6r-pattern\" src=\"https:\/\/spindelmaker.bluesystems.no\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/lc3a6r-pattern.jpg\" alt=\"lc3a6r-pattern\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\"><\/p>\n<p>Wetting the leather with water, piece by piece, and stamping the pattern into it:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2943\" title=\"lc3a6r-mc3b8nster2\" src=\"https:\/\/spindelmaker.bluesystems.no\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/lc3a6r-mc3b8nster2.jpg\" alt=\"lc3a6r-mc3b8nster2\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\"><\/p>\n<p>She uses leather from ox:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2944\" title=\"lc3a6r-mc3b8nster3\" src=\"https:\/\/spindelmaker.bluesystems.no\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/lc3a6r-mc3b8nster3.jpg\" alt=\"lc3a6r-mc3b8nster3\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\"><\/p>\n<p>When she is done stamping, she adds a paste of a golden medium, then a layer of leaf gold, and then paints it with oil-color. Finally, after it is dry, she uses a matte varnish to seal it.
