My second day at Artfest I was in Michael deMeng<\/a>\u00b4s class.<\/p>\n Wow! This was an awesome class, that\u00b4s got me very inspired. I had such fun with the assemblage, and loved the painting techniques. I really enjoy layering colors like he does. A bit like Michelle and I did on our 3-D project <\/a>in October. His work is a tad more creepy than our cutsy paper-clay animals though Here is Michael showing the best way to make one thing stich to another.<\/p>\n I didn\u00b4t have much \u201cjunk\u201d with me from Norway, so on our way up to Port Townsend, we stopped by a vintage-shop and found The Style King!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n This antique hairdryer was a treasure! And I had a hard time \u201cdestroying\u201d this unique piece of history.<\/p>\n Isn\u00b4t he adorable?<\/p>\n I\u00b4ve never disected a hair-dryer before! My challenge for this class was to use as many parts as possible from the dryer.<\/p>\n This part of the dryer is obviously a shup-di-do-dah-microphne!<\/p>\n Trying to find a face. Bird? Sceleton? Dog? Penguin? Darth Vader?<\/p>\n Detail of finished the King rejuvinated.<\/p>\n Here is a little piece of snake-skin I got from one of my class-mates. And the electrical cord and plug I found in a charity shop in Norway. Apart from that, everything is from the hair-dryer.<\/p>\n After dinner, it was vendor night. A lot of the teachers (and some of the students) sell their art and supplies here.<\/p>\n Michelle at her booth.<\/p>\n Oh, maybe I forgot to mention that there are almost 600 people here.<\/p>\n The evenings are one of the best things about Artfest. Loads of creative people gathered around in the dorms, talking and journaling. People are so friendly and easy to get to know here.<\/p>\n Oh, and for the question from day 1, here is what the random colors turned into:<\/p>\n I wanted to make a warm and loving picture\u2026 difficult with those eyes. At first it was a wolf, then it became a bird. An evil love-bird with magic marbles. I\u00b4m not sure how well I like it, but the approach to painting in the class was interesting, so as an experiment it\u00b4s a success.
