This picture is Brian Wallace\u00b4s<\/a>. He\u00b4s an artist from Boston, USA, living in Haugesund. I absolutely love the warmth in his pictures. Even his pictures with a lot of blue sky and sea, have a special warmth to them. The nuances are just great, if you ask me. It really is an art to be able to give such simple forms so much life! (He does detailed pictures too)<\/p>\n

Today I\u00b4ve been so lucky as to attend Brian\u00b4s painting workshop. He\u00b4s already half way into the course, but I\u00b4ve been in the States, so it was a bit intimidating to come into a class where everyone else were well into their work, and knew what they were doing.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Here he is demonstrating the layering of paint.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We start off with a transparent layer a red mix, before moving on to darker areas. And lighter areas.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Impatient as I am, I had too opaque color in the sky, but Brian saved the day by adding the beautiful highlights. He basically did everything else that looks good in the picture too.<\/p>\n

I have so much to learn! The freedom of the brush-strokes and the recklessness in the colors. Daring to be bold. Seems to be the endless quest for me.<\/p>\n

I\u00b4m learning as we go along, and I am really looking forward to keep working. The picture is only half-finished, so it\u00b4s a good thing we have another night of painting in a week!<\/p>\n
