I was asked by Haugesund Children\u00b4s theatre if I could help them out with some hat-making for their next show. I showed them some techniques, and together we figured out how we could make the different types of hats. All designs are by Sigrun.<\/p>\n

Here is the design for a turban. I showed Wenche how to drape fabric on a styrofoam-head.<\/p>\n

And here is with the finished hat. I really like the broach in front.<\/p>\n

\u00c5se in the middle of mass-production of white cone-hats. With a serger (overlock) it takes her about five minutes to make one. Great when you have to make 43 of them\u2026<\/p>\n

Line had the most interesting project. Turning sponge-foam into a wig-like hat. (Although I realize I think this the most interesting because I\u00b4ve never tried it myself before.)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Using a sharp, cheap knife, she cut the sponge into shape gradually. The sponge really makes the knife lazy and unsharp very quickly, so you need to be confident and quick in the shaping. To bind the two pieces together we used a very sticky spray-glue, special for this purpose.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And here she is, the shape almost finished. It was so fun, I had trouble keeping away from the knife helping her. I\u00b4d like to try to make a big mask this way some day. And we checked. The foam takes spray-paint perfectly!<\/p>\n

Hopefully I\u00b4ll be invited back in a while, so I can see these hats finished! (And share more pictures with you)<\/p>\n
