I watched a TV show a while ago where the following ten interior trends were introduced. I thought I\u00b4d use them as an inspiration-point to show you some pictures from my own house:<\/p>\n
10: Quality furniture<\/strong>. As the economy is tighter, people invest in lasting quality rather than flat-packed thirteen-to-a-dozen-furniture.<\/p>\n One of the few pieces of new furniture I\u00b4ve bought is my mocha-leather sofa. Now I really like IKEA, by all means, but my non-IKEA-sofa is unbeatable! No regrets!<\/p>\n 9. Home-made chic<\/strong>. Again based on economy, anything home-made is big.<\/p>\n A lot of my stuff is self-made, from textiles to wood. Like the pillows above. Or the refurbished chair (inherited from my Grandma) and pouf below (inherited from my Granpa). And the recycled wooden mineral-water-boxes turned into library-shelving.<\/p>\n 8. Lace-inspired interior<\/strong>. On textiles, wood, metal\u2026<\/p>\n Like the metallic organza fabric I use for a curtain in the bathroom. The green in the background is a vintage silk sari I transformed into a shower-curtain.<\/p>\n 7. Metallic surfaces.<\/strong> Not the shiny bling, but the more subtle matte metallic surfaces.<\/p>\n Oh, my new golden wall-paper! Or should I say \u201croof-paper\u201d?<\/p>\n 6. Dining area.<\/strong> As money is tighter, people eat more in, and therefore invest more in their dining area.<\/p>\n Handmade dark brown ceramic plates from Denmark and wroth iron cutlery, bought many years ago. Ceramic cups from Kari Astrup-Geelmuyden<\/a>.<\/p>\n 5. Wall graphics.<\/strong> Basically wall-stickers. I have to admit, I don\u00b4t have any of them\u2026 so what can I show you? My driftwood half-panel in my sunny-summer-day-painted entrance, perhaps?<\/p>\n 4. Striking wall-paper. Big patterns, vintage, retro or new.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n My black Laura Ashley kimono wallpaper in the stairway.<\/p>\n 3. Global influences.<\/strong> Since money is tight, people spend less money on traveling, and more on making their homes exotic.<\/p>\n I love traveling, and often bring back home little treasures from far-away countries. Like this chandelier from Istanbul, Turkey and the wall-hanging in the background from Chichicastenango, Guatemala.<\/p>\n 2. Stylish Eco Lighting.<\/strong> The whole light-bulb-world as we know it is about to change. The big picture has light behind it, so it works as a lamp as well. I made it for an exhibition a couple of years ago, and now it serves as a unique art-lamp in my living room.<\/p>\n 1. Bold color!<\/strong> Yes, I knew it! That the pale-white trend would change! The first thing I did when I moved in to my house, was to paint the walls. What used to be a pale pastel house became a colorful oasis of a home! I\u00b4m not just saying it. Almost everyone that comes into my living room expresses how warm, relaxing and soulful it is.
