A brand new DOF<\/a> supply vessel is about to be Christened. Yesterday I was at the Aukra Shipyard onboard the ship to get all the artwork on the walls and ready for sailing.<\/p>\n

Skandi Skansen is the name of the ship, and it is named after an old part of Bergen. Some of the motifs in my art are from Skansen, so why don\u00b4t we start the tour in the dayroom, where there are two pictures from the old fire-station at Skansen:<\/p>\n

This is the fire-station from behind, where there is a big water-reservoare.<\/p>\n

And here is the tower, with a good view over the city centre.<\/p>\n

I just have to show you part of the ceiling as well, isn\u00b4t it cool?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Moving on to the mess.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Indoor windows allow daylight into the room via the dayroom. In the mess here are four pictures from the tiny streets around Skansen and area. In Norwegian they\u00b4re called \u201cSmau\u201d. The bigger ones have room for a car, but certainly not all of them. They\u00b4re quite exotic, actually! (Terribly expensive to live here though!)<\/p>\n

(The ship wasn\u00b4t completely finished when I was onboard, here part of the ceiling in the hall-way is lying on the mess-tables, while electricians were doing their finishing touches on the down-lights in the hall)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I\u00b4d love to live on this street!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

As we climb the stairs, we pass this painting with motif from Leps\u00f8y, outside Bergen:<\/p>\n

And just before we reach the floor with the lounges, we find another stairway-painting, this time the motif is from Sweden:<\/p>\n

Entering the lounge, this is what you\u00b4ll see:<\/p>\n

The Captain\u00b4s lounge first, and the smokers\u00b4 lounge in the back.<\/p>\n

I really like the cream leather sofas, they make the room look so exclusive!<\/p>\n

This is from one of my favorite ship-yards, where they fix old boats.<\/p>\n

\u2026 and part of an old sailboat.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Just out of curiosity: does anyone know what&nbsp;\u201cHalegatt\u201d <\/em>is in English? I can\u00b4t find it in my dictionary. It is what is on the picture, the hole that the ropes go through.<\/p>\n

Moving into the smokers\u00b4 lounge, there is a lovely angled sofa, where my \u201cUps and downs\u201d picture really comes to it\u00b4s right.<\/p>\n

Three bows form the lines in this picture.<\/p>\n

In the other corner, you\u00b4ll find a little copper-city, where the motto is to Live Out Loud!<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This is oxidized copper, with mesh of copper and brass, and a series of found objects.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Moving on to the cabins. First, the captain:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This one is called \u201cFull speed ahead!\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Next is the chief engineer\u00b4s cabin:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

An old diving-helmet reappears to the surface.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Moving on tho the room where all the important decisions are made: the conference-room.<\/p>\n

This is a series of silk-prints on aluminum. I\u00b4ve never tried this combination before, but really like the crispness of the expression.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I\u00b4ve used my poem \u201cOn the shores\u201d, which is an ode to the beauty of the wild landscape along the Norwegian coastline in general, and the islands especially.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

And finally we reach the top: the Sky-lounge!<\/p>\n

One big white wall just waiting to be filled with color! This is where my favorite pictures on this ship is.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

All close-ups of the sides of ships and boats, but with a new visual expression, more \u201cmodern\u201d in a way.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Another angle of the room.<\/p>\n

This is my Dad\u00b4s little boat actually.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

You\u00b4d never know, but this boat is in Port Townsend.<\/p>\n
