A dream-come-true! Under the superb guidance of Liz Kettle, we did things with left-over silk fibers I didn\u00b4t even know was possible! I\u00b4m sorry to say the photos just does not do justice to this wonderful technique and material.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12464\" title=\"_MG_9752\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spindelmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/MG_9752.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"253\" =\"https:\/\/www.spindelmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/MG_9752.gif 350w, https:\/\/www.spindelmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/MG_9752-150x108.gif 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\"><\/p>\n<p>Task: to make paper-like fabric-pieces from silk fibers. The start-kit included both fine fibers, silkworm-cocoons, and \u201chankies\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12463\" title=\"_MG_9756\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spindelmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/MG_9756.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"270\" =\"https:\/\/www.spindelmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/MG_9756.gif 350w, https:\/\/www.spindelmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/MG_9756-150x115.gif 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\"><\/p>\n<p>Spreading them all out in very thin layers, adding bits and pieces of waste silk fibers that have been dyed. When there were enough layers, we used a special textile medium , diluted with water, to fix it all together.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12462\" title=\"_MG_9759\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spindelmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/MG_9759.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"230\" =\"https:\/\/www.spindelmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/MG_9759.gif 450w, https:\/\/www.spindelmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/MG_9759-150x76.gif 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\"><\/p>\n<p>Here some of my finished layers are lying in the tub, to dry.
