The Global Science Opera premiers today with its 5th opera: Gravity!<\/a><\/p>\n

It is a celebration of the 100th anniversary of Eddington\u00b4s effort to acquire solid scientific support for Einstein\u00b4s Theory of General Relativity. He sent two expeditions to Sobral in Brazil and Principe in Sao Tome & Principe in Western Africa, where they would photograph the solar-eclipse in 1919. These photos, when compared to other photos of the same star-constallations, showed that the stars closest to the sun had \u201cmoved\u201d, that is, the light from them was influenced by the gravitational forces from the sun. &amp;nbsp;So how do you teach students from primary-level all the way up to university-level about spacetime, light-curvature and the genreal relativity theory? Well, through song, dance, acting and eco-art, of course! Click the poster, and you can see the finished opera:<\/p>\n

20 countries participated in this effort, the main story was created and performed by students from Sao Tome % Principe and Brazil, and was part of the official national celebratory program in both countries.<\/p>\n

This year, I learned basic film-editing, by making the trailer for the opera (at the beginning of the opera).<\/p>\n
